“ The only ones left with any confidence at all are the New Dumb. It is the beginning of the end of our world as we knew it. Doom is the operative ethic. „

Classic Carlin

soupsoup:

  • Always do whatever’s next.
  • At a formal dinner party, the person nearest death should always be seated closest to the bathroom.
  • Atheism is a non-prophet organization.
  • By and large, language is a tool for concealing the truth.
  • Death is caused by swallowing small amounts of saliva over a long period of time.
  • Don’t sweat the petty things and don’t pet the sweaty things.
  • Dusting is a good example of the futility of trying to put things right. As soon as you dust, the fact of your next dusting has already been established.
  • Electricity is really just organized lightning
  • Fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity
  • Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac
  • I have as much authority as the Pope, I just don’t have as many people who believe it.
  • I recently went to a new doctor and noticed he was located in something called the Professional Building. I felt better right away.
  • I think it would be interesting if old people got anti-Alzheimer’s disease where they slowly began to recover other people’s lost memories.

New Development

After dealing on my own for about 14 years plus with it, I went to see a Doctor about my depression this week. It’s been something that cycles through my life, highs and lows. Never really dealt with it medically.

It’s been getting harder lately - and as much as I’ve tried to shoulder it, Louise has noticed as well. So, as happens with all our serious discussions, we talked about it in the car.

For my part, it came down to this - “I can’t do this anymore.”

Surprising no one, she’s been rather cool about things - rather suportive and all. She’s much better than I deserve.

So, now I’m in the land of the medicated - a generic version of Paxil - and awaiting getting an apointment from my referal. It’s been an interesting few days, as the drug has taken hold. It’s doing something - I can’t quite put my finger on it. If it’s actually helping, we shall see.
